Tesla Model Y Standard Achieves 337 Miles in Independent Range Test

The entry-level variant of Tesla’s refreshed ‘Model Y’ has demonstrated superior real-world efficiency in standardized testing. Edmunds conducted its EV Range Test on the 2026 ‘Model Y’ Standard, recording 337 miles on a single charge. This result exceeds the vehicle’s EPA-estimated range of 321 miles.

The ‘Model Y’ Standard utilizes a smaller battery pack compared to higher trims like the Premium and Performance models. Despite the reduced capacity, it consumed only 22.8 kWh per 100 miles during the test. In contrast, Edmunds’ previous long-term ‘Model Y’ Launch Series required 26.8 kWh per 100 miles under similar conditions.

This 337-mile outcome marks the highest distance achieved by any ‘Model Y’ variant in Edmunds’ testing protocol to date. The test simulates mixed highway and city driving to replicate typical owner usage patterns.

Recent Tesla vehicles have consistently met or surpassed their EPA range estimates in Edmunds evaluations. This trend began with the updated ‘Model 3’ and continues with the refreshed ‘Model Y’ lineup.

The ‘Model Y’ Standard positions itself as Tesla’s most affordable crossover option in the US market. Its efficiency gains allow it to outperform pricier siblings in distance per charge, despite the smaller battery.

Edmunds plans further testing, including charging performance and acceleration metrics, on the ‘Model Y’ Standard. The range result highlights advancements in powertrain optimization for the entry-level trim.

Tesla’s focus on efficiency in the Standard variant enables competitive range without the larger battery packs found in all-wheel-drive models. This approach maintains accessibility while delivering extended driving distance.

The ‘Model Y’ remains Tesla’s volume leader in the US electric SUV segment. The Standard trim’s strong test performance reinforces its position against rivals emphasizing real-world usability.
