Jaguar Unveils Electric GT with Over 1,000 Horsepower
Jaguar has taken a bold step into electrification with the Type 00 grand tourer. This model marks the brand’s shift toward high-performance EVs on a bespoke platform. The vehicle features three electric motors delivering more than 1,000 horsepower.
One motor powers the front axle while two drive the rear. This setup provides a rear-biased torque distribution of 30:70 that varies dynamically. Rear-wheel steering reaches up to six degrees opposite the front wheels for enhanced maneuverability.
The Type 00 measures over five meters in length. It includes a long hood, hatchback tailgate, and standard 23-inch wheels. All-around air suspension and twin-valve damping contribute to its ride quality.
Jaguar targets a range of 400 miles on the WLTP cycle. This comes from an estimated 120 kWh battery pack. The curb weight stays under 2,750 kilograms with an even axle split.
Managing director Rawdon Glover confirmed the construction of 150 prototypes. The final design has been frozen with worldwide testing underway. The camouflage removal occurs next year.
Order books open in summer 2026. Deliveries begin later in 2027. Glover noted that only 15 percent of buyers will be returning Jaguar customers while 85 percent will be new to the brand.
The vehicle prioritizes profit margins over volume sales amid Jaguar’s declining registrations. European sales fell sharply through October 2025. This positions the Type 00 as a premium offering in the luxury EV segment.
