Yuzvendra Chahal Adds BMW i7 Luxury Electric Sedan to Collection

Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal has taken delivery of a new BMW i7 xDrive60 fully electric luxury sedan. The vehicle features a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup producing 536 horsepower and 549 lb-ft of torque. BMW equips the i7 with a 101.7 kWh battery pack enabling up to 625 kilometers of range under WLTP testing. Acceleration reaches 0-100 km/h in 4.7 seconds despite a curb weight exceeding 2,600 kilograms.

The i7 incorporates BMW’s latest iDrive 8.5 infotainment system with a curved display combining a 12.3-inch driver instrument cluster and 14.9-inch central touchscreen. Rear passengers access a 31-inch Theater Screen for streaming content, complemented by Bowers & Wilkins audio. The model includes adaptive air suspension and executive lounge seating with reclining functions. Pricing in India starts around 2.5 crore rupees for the xDrive60 variant.

Chahal shared images and video of the white i7 alongside his parents, emphasizing family involvement in the purchase. The sedan joins growing adoption of premium electric vehicles among Indian celebrities and athletes. BMW launched the current i7 generation in 2023 as its flagship electric offering, competing directly with the Mercedes-Benz EQS. Production occurs at the company’s Dingolfing plant in Germany.

The i7 utilizes BMW’s fifth-generation eDrive technology with silicon carbide inverters for improved efficiency. Fast charging supports up to 195 kW, recovering 170 kilometers of range in 10 minutes. Regenerative braking modes adjust intensity through paddle shifters. The chassis features rear-axle steering for enhanced maneuverability in urban conditions.

This acquisition highlights increasing availability of ultra-luxury EVs in India despite infrastructure challenges. BMW expanded its charging network partnerships to support i7 owners. The model qualifies for certain state-level incentives promoting electric mobility. Deliveries of the facelifted 2026 i7 begin soon with minor cosmetic updates.

Chahal’s choice reflects the i7’s positioning as a chauffeur-driven executive vehicle common in the segment. Interior materials include cashmere blends and crystal glass controls. BMW offers extensive customization through its Individual program. The electric powertrain delivers silent operation and instant torque suited to luxury applications.

Indian market sales of premium EVs grew significantly in 2025, driven by models like the i7 and competitors. BMW maintains assembly operations in Chennai for local market vehicles. The i7 competes against the Audi A8 L e-tron and upcoming Porsche Taycan facelift. Ownership includes eight-year battery warranty coverage.

This purchase underscores shifting preferences toward sustainable luxury among high-profile individuals. BMW targets further expansion of its electric portfolio in India with upcoming models. The i7 represents the brand’s commitment to electrification in the full-size sedan category. Chahal joins other cricketers selecting premium German electric vehicles.
