Hyundai Teases New Electric Giant Longer Than Five Meters
Hyundai has officially released a teaser image for a new vehicle that promises to be significantly larger than most passenger cars currently on the road. The South Korean manufacturer plans to unveil this mysterious new model in January at the Brussels Motor Show. While the company has kept specific details under wraps, they have confirmed that this vehicle is a production model rather than a concept. This upcoming release is set to expand their electric portfolio with a machine that utilizes advanced 800-volt architecture for rapid charging capabilities. Industry analysts believe this move signals Hyundai’s serious intent to dominate the large electric vehicle segment in Europe.
The teaser photograph reveals very little beyond a continuous LED light strip stretching across the entire width of the front fascia. This design element is a signature feature of the brand’s modern aesthetic and hints at a futuristic styling direction. Reports from various automotive sources suggest that this vehicle will exceed five meters in length. Such dimensions would make it larger than the recently introduced Ioniq 9 SUV which is already a massive vehicle by European standards. The company stated that this new entry supplements their existing electric lineup which implies it serves a different purpose than their current SUVs.
Most industry experts and leaks point toward this being the fully electric version of the Hyundai Staria. The Staria is a multi-purpose vehicle that debuted with a striking spaceship-inspired design back in 2021. It currently measures around 5.25 meters in length and offers immense interior space for passengers and cargo. An electric powertrain would be a logical evolution for this model as it transitions from diesel and hybrid engines to zero-emission technology. The flat floor architecture of an electric platform would likely enhance the already spacious cabin even further.
Bringing a large electric van to the European market places Hyundai in a unique position with very few direct competitors. While many manufacturers are focusing heavily on SUVs and crossovers, the segment for full-size electric people movers remains relatively underserved. This strategy allows the automaker to target large families and shuttle services that require more room than a standard SUV can provide. The predicted sales volume for this electric variant is estimated to reach around 20,000 units annually on a global scale. Markets such as Australia and Thailand are also expected to receive this new model alongside Europe.
The official premiere is scheduled for January where Hyundai will share the stage with its sister company Kia. Kia is expected to present its own range of updates including the smaller EV2 and high-performance GT versions of existing models. The arrival of an electric Staria would confirm that Hyundai is willing to push boundaries beyond conventional body styles to meet diverse consumer needs. This launch continues their aggressive strategy to lead the transition to electric mobility regardless of vehicle size or category.
