Lada Revives Production of Sporty Vesta Models with Impressive Upgrades
AvtoVAZ has officially kicked off production of the latest Lada Vesta Sport at its Tolyatti plant, bringing back a performance-oriented version after several years of pauses and adjustments. This move comes as part of the brand’s ongoing recovery following supply challenges and corporate changes. The sporty Vesta now arrives in both sedan and station wagon body styles, appealing to drivers who want more excitement without sacrificing everyday usability. Development drew heavily on expertise from the Lada Sport division, known for its racing involvement over the years.
The heart of this new model is an enhanced 1.8-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine, now tuned to deliver 147 horsepower, marking a solid 21 percent increase over the standard 122-horsepower version. Engineers fitted sports camshafts, revised intake and exhaust systems with larger diameters, and updated engine control software to achieve the extra power and roughly 8 percent more torque. This setup meets Euro 5 emissions standards while keeping the classic front-wheel-drive layout. Drivers shift through a six-speed manual gearbox, preserving that engaging, hands-on feel enthusiasts appreciate.

Handling receives meaningful attention with a stiffer suspension featuring recalibrated springs and dampers for sharper responses. Brakes are upgraded for better endurance during spirited driving, and the track is widened to improve stability. Ground clearance stays at about 158 mm, ensuring the car remains practical on rough Russian roads rather than turning into a low-slung track toy. Steering feels more precise thanks to refinements, and the overall package includes over 200 unique parts compared to the base Vesta.
Exterior tweaks add a purposeful look with an aero kit and distinctive sport badges. Inside, the cabin embraces a black-and-red theme accented by leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear knob. Sport seats provide better side support for cornering, and the infotainment system gains fun extras like lap timing and speed tracking for occasional track outings. These touches make the Vesta Sport feel special for those who enjoy dynamic drives on weekends.

While exact pricing and full sales launch details remain under wraps, expectations point to a premium over existing Sportline variants, which start around 2,325,000 rubles or roughly 25,650 dollars in current terms.
